Welcome. If you have found your way to this page then you must be searching for some answers to all those questions about being a new or nearly new teacher. I am here to help. I taught school for 31 years and now I am working at a college as a student teacher coordinator. The first thing that I tell my student teachers is something that you have probably figured out. There is no course that you have taken in your education path that will have taught you to be an effective teacher. There is no way to prepare someone to actually go into a classroom and be ready to control all the students and have their attention 100% of the time. Oh, I know, as a new teacher you were all excited about having your own room and your own group of students. You were going to have so much fun using all those wonderful ideas and everyone would listen and learn everything that they needed to learn and things would be just great! How long did it actually take for that bubble to burst? Now don't get me wrong...I loved teaching! I hope that I can help those that might be struggling.
